Mentoring Students
Form four students from Mlolongo primary school are keenly listening to an engineer at Allpack as he explained how packaging material are made at the factory. You could see the excitement in their faces as they strolled within the factory looking at the various machinery as the boxes are being manufactured.
‘‘I believe that dreams come true, I want to be the first female engineer in my Family. This educational tour has motivated me because I got to interact with engineers and it’s surprisingly possible. I will be taking my form four exams soon and hopefully, I will get a Job at Allpack one day once I graduate from the university,’’ said Susan Mwangi a student from St. Augustine Mlolongo high school.
Today is the annual educational tour for 200 form four students, Allpack gives an opportunity to students to be mentored by the various experts who work at the factory, to provide recognition and exposure for the students and allow them to understand the job market.
‘‘I learned about the different job positions and the role every worker plays to ensure the company is operational. My take-away lesson is that every employee at a workplace is important, and it is wrong to underestimate anyone,’’ says Kevin Mburu a student from St. Augustine.
It’s been almost a decade since Allpack limited started empowering students at St. Augustine Mlolongo primary and high school. We have consistently set up medical camps, donated books, provided mentorship programmes and sustainability ventures including tree growing and rainwater harvesting installation for the school for both the primary and high school.
‘‘Allpack has supported our school for about 7 years now, and we don’t take it for granted. This educational tour has provided a high level of exposure and these kinds of experiences will encourage the students in the holistic development of their careers and personalities.’’ Said Radina Rosemary, the guiding and counseling teacher who accompanied the students.
Allpack always aims to nurture students. We hope that the exposure we provide inspires them to achieve their dream jobs and motivates them for future planning.
